Lars Fredrikson conceived his televisions around 1968 and presented in particular at the Fondation Maeght (Saint-Paul de Vence) in 1968, the Electromagica exhibition in Tokyo in 1969, and the SYGMA Festival in Bordeaux that same year. The artist broadcast electronic impulses that, to his mind, “are related to the range of human organic frequencies.” Rather than simply displaying images, the device creates a temporal flow of “quanta of information.” Using memory, the viewer internally constructs the form as a mental image. Frederikson conceived the soundscape as an “audible relaxant” that operates in harmony with the eye and brain in the reception and metabolization of light emissions.
